Enhancing the local landscape

WatersideView will include a range of special features to extend, enhance and protect the water, ecology and wildlife of the local area. By including significant new areas of green space, we are looking to create a corridor linked to surrounding wildlife habitats.

Tree species and plants will be chosen from native species known to thrive in the local area. Three 'brown roofs' on the low rise buildings, constructed of cleaned crushed hardcore or similar material, interspaced with low mounds of planted grasses, will help to encourage wildlife to thrive in the area.

Our current vision is for ...

  • Bird boxes on trees and buildings and nesting ledges
  • ‘Eco’ roofs to provide a new habitat for birds like the Black Redstart
  • New tree and other planting using native species of known wildlife value
  • Bat bricks and nesting boxes
  • A tree lined boulevard along the Surrey Quays Road
  • The preservation and enhancement of the existing dockland artefacts
